Pendleton High Principalship Posted
Applications for the principalship at Pendleton High School are now being accepted through May 25, 2012.  Candidates must have a valid S.C. secondary school principal certificate and have five years teaching experience and three years administrative experience. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding and have a vested commitment to leading the school in its pursuit of providing personalized learning and global opportunities for all students.  Job Announcement

Scholastic Book Fair (Buy 1, Get 1 Free) May 21-25, 29-30
     PES Library Media Center will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair May 21-25 and May 29-30. Paperback books will be for sale in the Library Media Center. All books will be buy 1, get the 2nd of equal or lesser value for free. Get ready for summer reading with this great sale!  The Book Fair will be open 8:00-3:00 each day with extended hours from 3:00-6:30 on May 24th before and during our Academic Celebration.

Academic Celebration Thursday, May 24
     The students, faculty and staff of Pendleton Elementary School  will present "Into the Future", a celebration of learning for today and tomorrow.  The celebration will be held Thursday, May 24th in the PES Gym from 5:00-6:30 pm.  There will be exhibits of academic work and student dance performances. Special guests will be Clemson University's Inquiring Minds Project. Come out to see examples of our students academic work from the 2011-2012 school year. 
    Students accompanied by a parent will receive a gift certificate for 2 books from the book fair. The book fair will be open from 3:00-6:30. Paperback books will be on sale, buy one, get one free. It will be a great time to purchase books for Summer Reading!

Congratulations to Wade King, PES Teacher of the Year and Fran James, PES Staff Member of the Year. Mr. King teaches 5th grade and Ms. James is head custodian. We are proud and fortunate to have both of them as members of the PES team. Great Job!

6th Grade CSI Field Trip
Our 6th graders had a tremendous time on our field trip March 19-21, 2012 to Pickens, South Carolina to the Youth Learning Institute run by Clemson University. Our students were able to experience the exciting world of crime scene investigations through CSI: Clemson Student Investigators. While there our students became forensic investigators, solving mysteries with math, forensic science and technology.
Here are just a few of the things we learned about and experienced:

·     Handwriting analysis               Footprint and soil analysis

·     Fingerprinting                         Career Analysis


Students recieve 3rd place at the Ron Clark Academy Model United Nations Conference
Hundreds of students from over seven states attended the United Nations Association of the USA’s Global Classrooms® Ron Clark Academy Model UN Conference on March 3rd at the Georgia Tech Research Institute Conference Center. Anderson School District Four’s Middle Grade Model UN Team is compiled of six students from Pendleton Elementary School and one Student from Riverside Middle School; Jackson Whitfield, Muskan Momin, Disha Patel, Madison Ladiness, Dion Black, Garrett Fricks, and Clay Posey. The students represented countries, interest groups, and nongovernmental organizations in simulations of UN bodies. Global Classrooms Model UN has amazed schools around the globe with its ability to cultivate global literacy, life skills, and attitudes necessary for active citizenship, showing that students deeply care about the world outside their local community.

This is the first year that Anderson 4 has competed in a Model UN competition. Most schools that were represented were compiled of mostly seventh and eighth grade students. Anderson School District Four’s team placed in the top three. Clay Posey and Garrett Fricks won the award for best position paper representing the United States on the issue of Human Rights for Refugees. Garrett Fricks also won the award for Best Delegate!

Dymond Named Principal of Pendleton Elementary for 2012-2013 School Year

Adam Dymond has been named principal of Pendleton Elementary School. Mr. Dymond will succeed Kevin Black, Ed.D., who served in this role for the past two years. Mr. Dymond will assume the principalship starting July 1, 2012. The Anderson School District Four Board of Trustees approved the administration’s recommendation at a special called board meeting held on March 27, 2012. The school district received 28 applications for the position from a diverse pool of candidates. Ten applicants advanced to the first round of interviews, conducted by a team comprised of district administrators and teachers from Pendleton Elementary School.  Read more...
